Remembering Dr. James Cannon: A Loss to Our APAP Family

Posted 29 days ago

Dear APAP Members and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we share some sad news with you today. Our beloved colleague, friend, and longtime member/Treasurer of APAP, Dr. James Cannon from Chesapeake, Va., has passed away recently.

Dr. Cannon was not only a dedicated member of our organization but also an exceptional professional in his field. With a distinguished career that spanned 31 years of military service in the U.S. Coast Guard, he retired as a senior officer and went on to make significant contributions to the medical community. As the president/CEO of Assure Wellness Group and a psychiatric PA, he was instrumental in the growth and success of his practice, focusing on areas such as BioTe bio-identical hormones, weight loss, sexual health, and cosmetic procedures.

His credentials spoke volumes about his expertise and commitment to healthcare. Dr. Cannon held a Master of Business Administration and a doctorate in health care administration with a focus on mental health policy. He was a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Physician Associates and was certified in primary care and psychiatry. His contributions to medical literature through articles and books, as well as his involvement with various professional groups, highlighted his passion for advancing healthcare practices.

Dr. Cannon's presence on the APAP board was invaluable, and his leadership played a significant role in the success of our organization. We will always remember his dedication, wisdom, and kindness.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Cannon's family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. We extend our deepest condolences and hope that they find comfort and strength in the cherished memories of his remarkable life.

Sincerely,

APAP Board of Directors
